DAHLIA MANIA
Dahlias have taught us so many things here at CROP.
One of their most important lessons has been: “never say never”.
We always thought they were very fleeting, and so hadn’t really considered them in CROP’s repertoire. Turns out some of them have an impressive vase life, and so it has become our mission to focus on those varieties and offer them to our florists and floral designers. In the same way, we would love to offer these varieties to other cut flower growers and home gardeners. And so, we are now pleased to now bring you the very latest in dahlia trends and varieties.
Have fun!

Important Pre-Sales Information
Please read the following information carefully prior to buying tubers. By paying for the tubers, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
Sales
Our mission is to get these babies out to as many fields as possible: please respect our order limits of maximum two per variety - unless stipulated in the listing. Also, so crucial: Some of the tiniest tubers produce the best plants - size is not an indication of health.
Next to discuss: that pesky basket. Due to the site e-commerce, having an item in your basket does not mean it is safely yours. It is not reserved until you successfully check out and have a confirmation email. Being a dahlia tuber buyer myself, I am so acutely aware of how frustrating this is. Pop us an email post sale, and we can let you know if we have any spares in the Spring.
Once an order has been made, we cannot make any changes due to the stock levels.
Dahlias will be shipped out in October/ beginning of November and each dahlia will have (at least) 1 visible eye. Exact shipping dates are hard to predict as we’d like to do this when they ‘eye-up’ but this is a rough indication.
Should a variety not store well, and we do not have sufficient healthy tubers to post, we will contact you with a replacement or refund option. We will do our utmost to store and care for our dahlias throughout Autumn/ Winter to avoid this situation and we have underestimated our stock as a safety precaution too.
Shipping
Please select the right shipping at check out otherwise you will be invoiced again for the correct shipping.
Great news. We can offer combined shipping! So if you make two separate orders, just select ‘Combined Shipping’ for the second order and you will only pay for postage once.
Important: if your order is too large and we cannot fit it into one box, we will need to upsize you and send a separate shipping invoice for the difference in delivery price.
Local friends: If you live in Raglan, CROP unfortunately cannot meet personally/ allow farm pick-ups as this is too time consuming re logistics and so only delivery will be in place.

The CROP Quality Promise
We want you to be overjoyed with your purchase… it’s worth all the stress of buying it. Each tuber will produce many more tubers/ plants for you – it’s the ultimate ‘give-back’ plant!
None of these tubers are from imported stock; they are solely from our own farm which we have built up by supporting other small NZ cut flower growers. We do not use chemical sprays, and we feed our soil and plants with biological fertilisers and living soil amendments.
We do everything we can to optimise dahlia tuber health. We are vigilant when it comes to quality.
Any issues?
Please get in touch within 48 hours of receipt of your tubers if you have any issues, including damage during shipping or other. Once purchased, you cannot return a tuber for obvious quality control complications. It will be CROP’s sole discretion whether a replacement or refund or neither is provided but rest assured, we want you to be happy.
Please note that the white shoot may fall off in transit, but the tuber will simply grow another shoot and no damage is done.
Dahlia viruses (including the common ‘mosaic virus’) are a very real thing and we have worked hard to eliminate tubers in our field that seem suspicious or sub-par in the health stakes. I have personally received and needed to bin virused tubers and it is frustrating and disappointing. At CROP, we have grown tubers for at least a year in the field and any suspicious tubers are isolated and observed, and either then welcomed into the field or binned.
We are confident that our tubers are in good health. However, sometimes things can show up in different climates and some issues that look like viruses can actually be mineral deficiencies.
Did you know that according to the American Dahlia Society's ongoing virus research, an average of 87% of healthy, asymptomatic dahlia plants carry at least one dormant virus? We are not in America but it does give you an insight into how tricky viruses are to manage. Most growers would want to know immediately if viruses are suspected in their tuber sales, and at CROP, we are no different. Please contact us if you suspect something and let’s have a closer look at it.
There are so many factors that can shape a plant’s life. We therefore cannot take any responsibility for how you store, plant, care, harvest or propagate from your plant after you have received it. You must therefore report any issues within 48 hours of receipt.
The only exception: We triple label our tubers and although we do our best to provide our healthiest accurate varieties, mistakes can happen with labelling. If this is the case, please email us by 1 March with a photograph of the mislabelled dahlia. We will be very apologetic and will look at a replacement for you for the next season.
